2. Customizing for Your Face Shape & Hair Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my salon guide on Heart Hairstyles for Kids: Cute & Adorable.
Every head of hair has its own density, cowlicks, and wave pattern.
Here is how I adjust the proportions behind the chair.

Matching Layers & Tones to Your Features
For round faces, I recommend avoiding too much volume on top, as it can accentuate the face’s width.
Instead, focus on creating a soft, heart-shaped silhouette with the braids.
For oval and heart-shaped faces, a heart hairstyle can be a great way to add some visual interest and create a sense of balance.
For fine or thin hair, I recommend using a light-hold hairspray to keep the braids in place without weighing them down.
For thicker hair, you can use a bit more volume on top to create a more dramatic look.
Take a moment to review the proportions, textures, and timing notes on this page so each step adapts effortlessly to your own routine.
✂️ Face-Shape & Density Quick Match
- Fine-to-Medium Strands: Keep perimeter weight blunt and add micro-ribbons around the face for visual fullness.
- Thick or Wavy Hair: Use internal slide-cutting to release weight so waves stack without triangle bulk.
- Warm vs. Cool Skin Undertones: Pair golden-olive skin with honey, caramel, or espresso glosses; pair cool undertones with champagne, ash, or mocha ribbons.
