Matching Layers & Tones to Your Features

One of the things I love about the waterfall braid is how versatile it is.

You can customize the look to fit your face shape and hair texture by adjusting the number of strands and the placement of the braid.

For example, if you have a heart-shaped face, you may want to try a braid that starts at the crown of the head, rather than the nape of the neck.

This will help to balance out the features and create a more symmetrical look.

If you have fine or thin hair, you may want to try a braid that uses a smaller number of strands, to avoid overwhelming the hair.

Another great way to customize the waterfall braid is to try different parting styles. For example, if you have a round face, you may want to try parting your hair in the center, rather than to the side.

This will help to elongate the features and create a more angular look.

If you have a square face, you may want to try parting your hair to the side, rather than in the center. This will help to soften the features and create a more feminine look.

✂️ Face-Shape & Density Quick Match

  • Fine-to-Medium Strands: Keep perimeter weight blunt and add micro-ribbons around the face for visual fullness.
  • Thick or Wavy Hair: Use internal slide-cutting to release weight so waves stack without triangle bulk.
  • Warm vs. Cool Skin Undertones: Pair golden-olive skin with honey, caramel, or espresso glosses; pair cool undertones with champagne, ash, or mocha ribbons.
