Welcome to Part 2 of my salon guide on Sleek Braided Feed-In & Stitch Braid Styling Guide.

Every head of hair has its own density, cowlicks, and wave pattern.

Here is how I adjust the proportions behind the chair.

Matching Layers & Tones to Your Features

For those with oval or heart-shaped faces, I recommend using a combination of braiding and cutting to create a more angular silhouette.

For square faces, a more rounded look can be achieved by using a combination of undercuts and point-cut internal layers.

For those with fine or thick hair, I recommend using a root-smudged honey balayage to add depth and dimension to the braids.

For those with 1B-3B hair, a point-cut internal layering technique can help to create a more voluminous look.

Take a moment to review the proportions, textures, and timing notes on this page so each step adapts effortlessly to your own routine.

Preparing your core essentials and workspace before you begin ensures smooth, consistent results from start to finish.

✂️ Face-Shape & Density Quick Match

  • Fine-to-Medium Strands: Keep perimeter weight blunt and add micro-ribbons around the face for visual fullness.
  • Thick or Wavy Hair: Use internal slide-cutting to release weight so waves stack without triangle bulk.
  • Warm vs. Cool Skin Undertones: Pair golden-olive skin with honey, caramel, or espresso glosses; pair cool undertones with champagne, ash, or mocha ribbons.
