2. Customizing for Your Face Shape & Hair Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my salon guide on Lush Boho Braids: A Seasonal Hairstyle Trend Guide.
Every head of hair has its own density, cowlicks, and wave pattern.
Here is how I adjust the proportions behind the chair.

Matching Layers & Tones to Your Features
For different face shapes, try adjusting the layers and braids to suit your features.
For example, if you have a heart-shaped face, you may want to add more volume at the temples to balance out your features.
If you have a square-shaped face, you can try a more asymmetrical braid to add some soft, feminine touches.
For different hair textures, try adjusting the braids to suit your hair type.
For example, if you have fine hair, you may want to use a texturizing spray to add some volume and texture to your braids.
If you have thick hair, you can try a more chunky, textured braid to add some depth and dimension.
✂️ Face-Shape & Density Quick Match
- Fine-to-Medium Strands: Keep perimeter weight blunt and add micro-ribbons around the face for visual fullness.
- Thick or Wavy Hair: Use internal slide-cutting to release weight so waves stack without triangle bulk.
- Warm vs. Cool Skin Undertones: Pair golden-olive skin with honey, caramel, or espresso glosses; pair cool undertones with champagne, ash, or mocha ribbons.
