Matching Layers & Tones to Your Features

One of the best things about braids is that they can be tailored to suit any face shape or hair texture.

For example, if you have a round face, try a braid that starts at the crown and works its way down to the nape of the neck.

This will help elongate your face and create a more angular silhouette.

On the other hand, if you have a square face, try a braid that starts at the side and works its way up to the crown.

This will help soften your features and create a more delicate, feminine look.

Take a moment to review the proportions, textures, and timing notes on this page so each step adapts effortlessly to your own routine.

✂️ Face-Shape & Density Quick Match

  • Fine-to-Medium Strands: Keep perimeter weight blunt and add micro-ribbons around the face for visual fullness.
  • Thick or Wavy Hair: Use internal slide-cutting to release weight so waves stack without triangle bulk.
  • Warm vs. Cool Skin Undertones: Pair golden-olive skin with honey, caramel, or espresso glosses; pair cool undertones with champagne, ash, or mocha ribbons.
