Matching Layers & Tones to Your Features
For clients with oval or heart-shaped faces, I recommend adding some volume at the roots to create a more angular look.
This will help balance out the face shape and create a more dramatic effect.
For clients with square faces, I recommend softening the look by adding some subtle layers around the jawline.
This will help break up the angularity of the face and create a more feminine look.
When it comes to hair texture, I always recommend using a light hand when it comes to adding volume or texture to the hair.
This will help prevent any build-up or frizz.
For clients with fine or thin hair, I recommend using a volumizing spray to add some extra oomph to the style.
✂️ Face-Shape & Density Quick Match
- Fine-to-Medium Strands: Keep perimeter weight blunt and add micro-ribbons around the face for visual fullness.
- Thick or Wavy Hair: Use internal slide-cutting to release weight so waves stack without triangle bulk.
- Warm vs. Cool Skin Undertones: Pair golden-olive skin with honey, caramel, or espresso glosses; pair cool undertones with champagne, ash, or mocha ribbons.
