Matching Layers & Tones to Your Features
One of the best things about braids is that they can be customized to fit any face shape or hair texture.
For example, if you have a round face, I recommend avoiding center parts and instead opting for a side part to create the illusion of length.
You can also use a few strategically-placed braids to add some visual interest to a simple updo.
For those with fine or thin hair, I recommend using a braiding technique that creates a more textured look, such as the Dutch Braid.
This braid is perfect for adding some volume and texture to fine hair.
And can be customized to fit any face shape or hair texture.
Simply braid the hair in a regular braid, but then gently pull out a few strands to create a more textured look.
✂️ Face-Shape & Density Quick Match
- Fine-to-Medium Strands: Keep perimeter weight blunt and add micro-ribbons around the face for visual fullness.
- Thick or Wavy Hair: Use internal slide-cutting to release weight so waves stack without triangle bulk.
- Warm vs. Cool Skin Undertones: Pair golden-olive skin with honey, caramel, or espresso glosses; pair cool undertones with champagne, ash, or mocha ribbons.
