2. Customizing for Your Face Shape & Hair Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my salon guide on Pixie Cuts for Round Face: The Stylish Pixie.
Every head of hair has its own density, cowlicks, and wave pattern.
Here is how I adjust the proportions behind the chair.

Matching Layers & Tones to Your Features
For those with a round face, it’s essential to tailor the layers to create a more angular silhouette.
To do this, use a point-cut internal layering method and avoid too much texture on the sides.
Instead, opt for a subtle chop to create a clean line.
Another great option is to create a longer, choppy layer on top.
Which can help create the illusion of a longer, more angular face shape.
This is especially effective for those with fine or thin hair, as it adds volume and texture.
✂️ Face-Shape & Density Quick Match
- Fine-to-Medium Strands: Keep perimeter weight blunt and add micro-ribbons around the face for visual fullness.
- Thick or Wavy Hair: Use internal slide-cutting to release weight so waves stack without triangle bulk.
- Warm vs. Cool Skin Undertones: Pair golden-olive skin with honey, caramel, or espresso glosses; pair cool undertones with champagne, ash, or mocha ribbons.
