2. Customizing for Your Face Shape & Hair Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my salon guide on Jennifer Aniston Bob Haircut: Shoulder Length Bob.
Every head of hair has its own density, cowlicks, and wave pattern—here is how I adjust the proportions behind the chair.

Matching Layers & Tones to Your Features
For those with heart-shaped faces, a shoulder-length bob can help balance the width of the forehead.
I recommend adding some internal layers to create the illusion of a longer face.
For square-shaped faces, a bit more texture at the ends can help soften the features.
Oval faces, like my client’s, can pull off a variety of bob lengths and styles.
When it comes to hair texture, a shoulder-length bob can work for most textures, from fine to thick.
However, if you have very fine hair, you may want to consider a slightly shorter length to prevent overwhelming the face.
For those with thicker hair, a bit more layering can help add movement and prevent bulkiness.
✂️ Face-Shape & Density Quick Match
- Fine-to-Medium Strands: Keep perimeter weight blunt and add micro-ribbons around the face for visual fullness.
- Thick or Wavy Hair: Use internal slide-cutting to release weight so waves stack without triangle bulk.
- Warm vs. Cool Skin Undertones: Pair golden-olive skin with honey, caramel, or espresso glosses; pair cool undertones with champagne, ash, or mocha ribbons.
