Matching Layers & Tones to Your Features
When it comes to coloring short hair, the key is to create a look that’s tailored to your individual face shape and hair texture.
For example, if you have a round face, you may want to avoid too much volume on top, as this can accentuate the width of your face.
Instead, focus on creating a more angular look by using point-cut internal layers. This will help to create a longer, more oval-shaped face.
If you have a square face, you may want to add some soft, subtle layers to balance out the angles of your face.
This will help to create a softer, more feminine look.
Additionally, if you have fine or thin hair, you may want to avoid too much layering, as this can make your hair appear even thinner.
Instead, focus on creating a sleek, polished look by using a round-brush blowout.
✂️ Face-Shape & Density Quick Match
- Fine-to-Medium Strands: Keep perimeter weight blunt and add micro-ribbons around the face for visual fullness.
- Thick or Wavy Hair: Use internal slide-cutting to release weight so waves stack without triangle bulk.
- Warm vs. Cool Skin Undertones: Pair golden-olive skin with honey, caramel, or espresso glosses; pair cool undertones with champagne, ash, or mocha ribbons.
