Matching Layers & Tones to Your Features
One of the things I love about balayage is that it can be tailored to suit different face shapes and hair textures.
For example, if you have a square face, I might use a more subtle, natural-looking balayage to soften your features.
And if you have fine, thin hair, I might use a lighter, more subtle color to create a natural-looking effect.
When it comes to color placement, I always consider the client’s skin tone and eye color when deciding where to place the color.
For example, if you have cool skin and blue eyes, I might use a cooler, ash-based color to create a harmonious look.
And if you have warm skin and brown eyes, I might use a warmer, golden color to create a sun-kissed look.
✂️ Face-Shape & Density Quick Match
- Fine-to-Medium Strands: Keep perimeter weight blunt and add micro-ribbons around the face for visual fullness.
- Thick or Wavy Hair: Use internal slide-cutting to release weight so waves stack without triangle bulk.
- Warm vs. Cool Skin Undertones: Pair golden-olive skin with honey, caramel, or espresso glosses; pair cool undertones with champagne, ash, or mocha ribbons.
