Matching Layers & Tones to Your Features
One of the best things about medium-length haircuts is that they can be tailored to suit different face shapes and hair textures.
For example, if you have a round face, you may want to avoid too much volume on top and instead focus on creating a sense of length and angles with the layers.
On the other hand, if you have a square face, you may want to add some soft, curved layers to soften your features.
When it comes to hair texture, medium-length haircuts can be adapted to suit fine, medium, or coarse hair.
For fine hair, I recommend using a point-cut style with internal layers to create a sense of depth and dimension.
For medium hair, you can use a combination of point-cut and internal layers to create a sense of movement and flow.
For coarse hair, I recommend using a combination of point-cut and external layers to create a sense of texture and interest.
✂️ Face-Shape & Density Quick Match
- Fine-to-Medium Strands: Keep perimeter weight blunt and add micro-ribbons around the face for visual fullness.
- Thick or Wavy Hair: Use internal slide-cutting to release weight so waves stack without triangle bulk.
- Warm vs. Cool Skin Undertones: Pair golden-olive skin with honey, caramel, or espresso glosses; pair cool undertones with champagne, ash, or mocha ribbons.
