2. Customizing for Your Face Shape & Hair Texture
Welcome to Part 2 of my salon guide on 50 Waterfall Braids with Loose Curls.
Every head of hair has its own density, cowlicks, and wave pattern.
Here is how I adjust the proportions behind the chair.

Matching Layers & Tones to Your Features
For a more dramatic look, try adding some loose curls to the ends of the braid.
This will add a fun, whimsical touch to the overall style.
You can also experiment with different braid patterns, such as a fishtail or Dutch braid, to add some extra texture and interest.
For a more polished look, try using a hair serum or oil to add some shine and definition to the hair.
This will help to bring out the natural texture and movement of the hair.
And will add a beautiful, healthy glow to the overall style.
✂️ Face-Shape & Density Quick Match
- Fine-to-Medium Strands: Keep perimeter weight blunt and add micro-ribbons around the face for visual fullness.
- Thick or Wavy Hair: Use internal slide-cutting to release weight so waves stack without triangle bulk.
- Warm vs. Cool Skin Undertones: Pair golden-olive skin with honey, caramel, or espresso glosses; pair cool undertones with champagne, ash, or mocha ribbons.
