Matching Layers & Tones to Your Features
One of the great things about a short layered bob is that it can be tailored to suit different face shapes and hair textures.
For example, if you have a round face, you may want to opt for a more angular bob with a high collar to help elongate your face.
On the other hand, if you have a square face, you may want to opt for a more curved bob with a softer, more relaxed look.
As for hair texture, a short layered bob can work wonders for both fine and thick hair.
For fine hair, I like to use a root-smudged honey balayage technique to add some dimension and texture to the hair.
For thicker hair, I like to use a more subtle layering technique to prevent the hair from looking too bulky or overwhelming.
✂️ Face-Shape & Density Quick Match
- Fine-to-Medium Strands: Keep perimeter weight blunt and add micro-ribbons around the face for visual fullness.
- Thick or Wavy Hair: Use internal slide-cutting to release weight so waves stack without triangle bulk.
- Warm vs. Cool Skin Undertones: Pair golden-olive skin with honey, caramel, or espresso glosses; pair cool undertones with champagne, ash, or mocha ribbons.
